Built with Love, Bound by Heritage, Blessed with Family
There have been some pretty big changes happening behind the scenes at Grain and Butter. The workshop is up and running thanks to both my husband and father, though the final touches are still slowly being worked on. My younger sister recently graduated and has started a full-time job on her career path. My mother successfully went through major surgery. And come March, we’ll be adding a new addition to our family — with W.O.W. becoming a big sister!
Times are a changin’! I’m looking forward to what’s ahead. That doesn’t mean there haven’t been struggles. Life has been stressful with all of these transitions. Luckily, that’s what family is for — to help, to support, and to hold each other up. I’ve been blessed to have that kind of support, from both my biological and chosen families. I know not everyone gets that opportunity, and I don’t take it for granted.
This week, I want to pause and acknowledge the people who’ve helped me get to where I am today.
Thank you, Brandon, for choosing to spend your life with me. You keep me grounded while also pushing me to reach for the stars. I couldn’t be more grateful to have a husband like you.
Thank you, Mom and Dad, for your constant support of my dreams. You’ve shown me what it means to be family, both in your relationship with each other and in how you show up for others.
Thank you, Leslie, for being the little sister everyone deserves to have. You may drive me crazy sometimes, but I’m so proud of you and all you’re achieving.
Thank you, Grandma Cheryl and Granny, for teaching me about our family history, cooking, and sewing — pieces of heritage I’m carrying forward in Grain and Butter.
And finally, thank you, W.O.W. For making me a mom. Your favorite words right now may be “hey” and “no,” but hey — you’ll never k(no)w how much I love you. I can’t wait to see you grow and to meet your little sibling, whether they are L.A.W. or F.E.W.
Without you all, Grain and Butter would have far less heart. You’re the reason I strive to be successful, and I hope to make you proud.
